We LOVE Books Linky!

Hi guys!
I'm so excited to be linking up with Mrs. Jump's Class today for the We Love Book Linky!!
This is going to be such a great linky to help new (and older teachers) take a fresh look at some great books! Spend some time browsing through some great books and be sure to add them to your "must have" list for back to school!

I just LOVE the two books that I'm going to show you today! That's right--- TWO!! (I know, we are only supposed to showcase one but when I stumbled upon a smiliar book by the same author, I knew I had to have it for my collection also!)

This is book #1:
Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle
This book not only has great rhyming and wonderful bright pictures, it also will have your kids chanting along before long!

The story is simple. It's about a little blue truck that's going through town. As it passes different animals, we hear what that animal says. He starts to go to fast and suddenly, he gets stuck in the mud! All of the animals soon join together to help get the truck un-stuck! They showed great team work and the truck gets free!

My daughter loves all of 'sounds' we read throughout the book such as 'quack' 'beep' and 'honk'. She is great a predicting what's coming next based on the pictures!
The bright pictures really help her see what's happening and of course, what kid doesn't like farm animals? She's quick to point them out on every page!!
This book could be used to talk about teamwork, farm animals or rhyming!  Any way you choose to use it, your kids will love it! I guarantee they will ask to read it time and time again!!

I was very surprised when I stumbled upon the follow up book titled Little Blue Truck Leads the Way.  I knew I just had to have it!
It's simliar to the first in that it also has great rhyming and great pictures!!

This time, the little blue truck visits the city. He finds that the other cars are bigger than he is and the pace of life is much quicker than what he's used to. They all are yelling at him to move out of the way since they are on a deadline and have important things to do. He finally tells them all to slow down and take their turn.
He encourages them to get in a single file and follow him, and that's what they did! All of the townspeople were excited that the little blue truck brought order to all of the big vehicles.
My son and daughter loves these book and we read them probably 3-4 times a week! I just love seeing them so excited about books.  It warms my heart!!

And I have to tell you, I was surfing through Pinterest the other night and stumbled upon a great craft to go along with the first book.  It's meant for preschoolers but could be adapted for a little bit older students as well.

Here is the picture that caught my eye:
