Election Day!

As you know today is election day!

Like many schools, we held our own election at our school today. All of the teachers talked to the kids about the two candidates that were running. While I didn't go in depth with the candidates in our classroom, I did show them pictures of Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. We talked about how Barack Obama was already in office. I had an assignment for the kids to go home and talk to their parents about the two candidates that were running and anything else to parents wanted to share with them. I did not want to get into the nitty-gritty details with a whole bunch of five-year-olds!! Can you really blame me???

This was the ballot our school made:
Here's a few pictures of my kiddos casting their ballots:
Our school even kept a running total on a Google Doc of our school results!
(This picture was early in the day---we will get a final count in the morning!)
I will recap with my class tomorrow who won our school election, who won the real election and of course, I'll try my best to answer all of the questions they will have! :)

Did your school do kid voting???

  1. I LOVE the idea of a Google doc. I'll have to remember that 4 years from now!
